One of the many debates across America is should Guns be banned from everyone who is not military or law enforcement.
There is a group of people who think that our country would be more safe from crime and harm if guns were to be banned. Their thinking is that if no one had guns then no one could get shot. This is a good idea in an IDEAL world.
But, do we live in an Ideal world? No.
This idea has already been tried in the District of Columbia. What is their crime rate? Has it gone down? Are there shooting murders happening still yet? Is DC safe?
I have to report that DC is not safe and their crime rate has not gone down. If anything, it has increased.
So, why didn’t this plan work?
Because the criminals don’t play by the rules. They still have their guns and can get more any time they want on the black market.
Only the law-abiding citizens actually follow this law and they were never the problem to begin with.
Now they have no means of defending themselves against crime when it happens. What are they supposed to do? Wait for the police to show up in 30 minutes. I can hear them now:
“Hey bad guy, why don’t you wait to shoot me until about 30 min from now so I can have the protection of the police and this will be a fair fight.”.
The criminal would laugh his head off and shoot him anyways.
Well, I am just a woman and I have even less chance of defending myself than a man would if it came down to a physical fight. Pepper spray only works if you can get close enough to spray it in their eyes and even then, some people are immuned to it.
Luckily, I live in South East Georgia among many rednecks and country boys. We are allowed, for now, to keep our guns.
I believe in the Constitution of the United States of America that says I have the RIGHT to Bear Arms.
I have been trained in the Military and in Law Enforcement the proper ways to maintain and fire weapons along with weapon safety. My husband and I teach these safety principles to our children.
If the Liberals ever win and our guns are forced from our hands, I just pray that we will have options to protect ourselves still yet.
Who knows…I might move to Montana where their state constitution clearly protects the right to bear arms.
I urge all who read this to become active in contacting your state reps and encourage them to protect our rights. For those of you who pray, a few prayers sent up to God can only help as well. If enough of us stand together in prayer and in Congress, we will keep our rights.
God bless…
